Program Overview
The City of Doral Emergency Hardship Grant for Families (EHG4F) is a compassionate initiative that reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our residents.
This program provides direct financial assistance to eligible Doral households experiencing verified financial hardship, such as job loss, medical emergencies, or unexpected loss of income. The EHG4F program offers timely and transparent relief to help prevent evictions, utility shutoffs, and family displacement. By providing targeted support during critical times, the City of Doral continues to strengthen community stability and uphold the shared values that make Doral a resilient and caring community.
Grant opens 1st of the month
Application Period
- Open Window: The first ten (10) calendar days of each month, until program funds are exhausted.
- Review Process: All applications are evaluated together at the close of each cycle to ensure fairness and consistency.
- Incomplete Applications: Applicants with missing documentation are encouraged to reapply during the next available grant cycle.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for assistance, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a City of Doral resident for at least 12 consecutive months.
- Meet the household income limits:
- Up to $60,173 for single-income households
- Up to $128,565 for dual/multiple-income households
- Demonstrate a verifiable, documented hardship (e.g., job loss, medical emergency, or other sudden loss of income).
- One award per household within a 12-month period.
- Request assistance of up to $3,000 per household for eligible expenses, including housing, utilities, or emergency childcare.
- Payments are made directly to verified service providers (no cash disbursements).
Required Documentation Checklist
Applicants must submit complete and verifiable documentation to be considered for assistance. Incomplete applications will not be processed, and the applicant will be encouraged to apply during the next grant cycle.
1. Proof of Residency
- Valid government-issued photo ID showing a Doral address (driver’s license, state ID, etc.)
- AND one recent utility bill, lease, or mortgage statement (within 60 days) showing the same address
2. Proof of Income
- Most recent federal income tax return (first page only) or W-2/1099 Form
3. Proof of Hardship
Documentation clearly explaining the nature and cause of hardship, such as:
- Job termination or reduction in hours (employer letter or unemployment claim)
- Medical emergency (hospital or doctor statement, medical bill)
- Death certificate or documentation of incapacitation of an income earner
- Notice of eviction, foreclosure, or utility shutoff
4. Proof of Expense(s) to Be Paid
- Invoice, bill, or statement from the verified service provider (landlord, utility company, childcare provider, etc.)
- Must include the amount due, service period, and payee information for direct payment
5. City of Doral Documents
*NOTE: Verified Service Provider must be able and willing to provide vendor documentation to register with the city.
Processing and Notification
Applicants will be notified of approval, or denial, via email once the evaluations are completed. Approved payments will be issued directly to the verified service providers.
