Florida’s Miami Fall Classic

There was no shortage of energy at Doral Central Park on Saturday, October 3, as athletes from across South Florida came together for Special Olympics Florida’s Miami Fall Classic.

For the first time, the competition was hosted in the City of Doral, bringing more than 500 athletes to Doral Central Park for a day filled with competition, camaraderie and plenty of reasons to celebrate. From the football field and volleyball courts to pickleball, powerlifting and cornhole, athletes spent the day showing their skill, determination and love of the game.

The event also marked a special milestone for Doral. The Doral Sunbursts Special Olympics Team took the court for its first-ever volleyball competition, giving local athletes the opportunity to represent their community on a new stage. Friends, family members, coaches and supporters were there to cheer them on and celebrate every point, play and personal accomplishment. The excitement extended well beyond the competition itself. More than 600 participants, including athletes, Unified partners, coaches and volunteers, helped fill the park with the energy that made the Miami Fall Classic such a memorable day. The Opening Ceremony officially kicked off the event, bringing everyone together to recognize the athletes and celebrate the spirit of Special Olympics.

For Doral, hosting the Miami Fall Classic was an opportunity to welcome athletes and families into the community while showcasing Doral Central Park as a place where people can come together, compete and create lasting memories. The City of Doral is proud to have partnered with Special Olympics Florida to bring this event to Doral and looks forward to continuing to create opportunities for athletes of all abilities to participate, compete and shine.

Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, Unified partners and volunteers who made the Miami Fall Classic a day to remember!
