The City of Doral is taking action in the fight against human trafficking with a new ordinance requiring public awareness signage in designated establishments. Human trafficking is a devastating crime that exploits individuals for forced labor or sex, and it can happen anywhere—including right here in South Florida.

By implementing this ordinance, Doral is enhancing community awareness and ensuring that employees and patrons in high-risk industries have access to vital resources. The goal is simple: empower people to recognize and report human trafficking before more lives are affected.

Who Must Display Human Trafficking Awareness Signs?

Under Florida law, municipalities like Doral can require businesses to post these notices in key locations. The following establishments in Doral must display a human trafficking awareness sign in an easily visible area for employees:

Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and other food or entertainment venues
Hotels, motels, vacation rentals, and other lodging establishments
Beauty and nail salons
Massage or bodywork businesses not owned by licensed healthcare professionals
Urgent care centers, walk-in clinics, and similar medical facilities

What Are the Requirements?

These signs must be printed in English & Spanish and placed where other labor and employment notices are displayed. Doral’s Code Compliance Department, in partnership with the Doral Police Department, will ensure compliance. Businesses that fail to post the required signage may face a fine of up to $500 per violation.
