As more residents turn to e-scooters, e-bikes, and other mobility options, the City of Doral is taking a thoughtful step forward. Ordinance #2025-35, passed by Mayor Christi Fraga and City Council on October 8, 2025, establishes clear rules for safer, more organized movement across the City—so everyone can share the road, sidewalks, and trails comfortably.

Registration & Accountability

To improve safety and enforcement, the ordinance introduces a new requirement:

  • All micro-mobility devices must be registered with the City of Doral Police Department
  • Registered devices must display a City-issued decal at all times

This system helps ensure devices are properly identified and operated responsibly throughout the community.

Clear Guidelines for Safer Riding

The ordinance sets specific standards to keep riders and pedestrians safe:

  • Micro-mobility devices may be used on streets, sidewalks, and bike paths, with speed limits of 16 mph on sidewalks.
  • Operators must yield to pedestrians and follow all traffic rules.
  • Riders are required to wear helmets meeting federal safety standards.
  • Devices must have working brakes and lights visible from front and back during nighttime.
  • Age requirements: riders 15 years and older may operate with a valid ID or restricted driver’s license.
  • Shared mobility providers must follow City guidelines for rentals, safety, and device maintenance.

Supporting a More Connected City

These updates provide structure to a rapidly growing way of getting around—making it easier for residents to move efficiently while keeping safety top of mind.

Moving Forward Together

Doral continues to invest in mobility options that support convenience, sustainability, and quality of life. With clear expectations in place, residents can enjoy more flexibility in how they get around—whether commuting, exploring, or heading to their next destination.

From streets to sidewalks, Doral is creating a safer path forward for everyone.
