Doral, FL – The City of Doral was proud to celebrate the official opening of the new Dolphin Station Park and Ride, alongside elected officials from Miami-Dade County and the City of Sweetwater. The new station, located at 12065 NW 12th Street, provides a much-needed transit terminal and offers a viable commute alternative for potential transit riders from Doral, Sweetwater, and other residential areas of West Dade to major employment areas such as Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown and Brickell.
The Dolphin Park-and-Ride will also offer be easy to connect to soon via the Doral Trolley. The City recently approved a Doral Trolley route that connects to this nearby station. “Transit and traffic are regional issues that all of South Florida contends with,” said Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez. “These types of collaborative projects truly benefit so many residents in the community and are certainly a step in the right direction to getting cars off the roads to alleviate congestion.”
The station provides easier transfer for those in reverse commute from the east to job rich areas such as Doral, Dolphin and Miami International Mall, and Florida International University. On Monday, March 2, 2020, Miami-Dade County launched the SR 836 Express Bus service from the Dolphin Park-and-Ride. The buses would use the new red “bus only” shoulders on the toll highway when regular traffic slows, and ride on the regular lanes the rest of the time. The parking at the Dolphin Station Park-and-Ride Lot is free of charge for transit riders and the bus fare is only $2.50 per trip.
