Doral, FL - The City of Doral’s newest park facility, the Doral Glades Park Nature Center, has been recognized by the Green Building Initiative as an honorable mention for the 2019 Green Globes for new construction, achieving “Two Green Globes” certification. The Doral Glades Park Nature Center had to meet green initiatives and energy efficiency goals identified in the city’s comprehensive plan. Green Globes certification proved that the center achieved those objectives of resource efficiency, reducing environmental impacts, and improving occupant wellness.
 
“Doral Glades Park is our most recent and proud addition to our nationally-recognized parks system,” said Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez. “I look forward to our continued commitment to sustainable facilities that improve our community’s quality of life, as we build out our next generation of parks, as part of the Doral Parks Bond.”
 
Green Globes is administered by the Green Building Initiative (GBI), a nonprofit organization and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer dedicated to accelerating the adoption of green building best practices. Founded in 2004, the organization is the global provider of the Green Globes and federal Guiding Principles Compliance building certification and assessment programs. The GBI administers modules for New Construction (NC), Continual Improvement of Existing Buildings (CIEB), and CIEB Healthcare for the healthcare industry. In October 2013, the U.S. General Services Administration elevated Green Globes to the same status as LEED as the two recommended third-party certifications systems for the U.S. government.
