City of Doral Receives Achievement Award from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC)

Doral, FL - The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the state’s leading certifier of green residential and commercial construction and local governments, has announced the 2020 Annual Achievement Awards winners for Builder of the Year, Highest Scoring Projects, and Certifying Agent of the Year. The City of Doral has been awarded as one of the top three in the Local Government Category. Earlier this year, the City also received the official notice of the City’s Green Local Government Re-certification in the Silver level as part of the FGBC’s Florida Green Local Government certification standards.
 
In April 2012, the City submitted the first application for review by the FGBC Green Local Government Certification program. Based on the City’s practices and policies, the City achieved the Bronze Green Local Government certification for its environmental stewardship. The achievement was based on the adoption of the award-winning Green Master Plan in 2009, and the creation and incorporation of the “Green Element” into the City’s Comprehensive Development Master.
 
The FGBC is a nonprofit 501©3 Florida corporation dedicated to improving the building environment. Their “mission” is to lead and promote sustainability with environmental, economic, and social benefits through regional education and certification programs. The FGBC Green Local Government Standard recognizes Green Cities and Green Counties for their outstanding environmental stewardship.
