The Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to revisit the future location of the proposed waste-to-energy facility at its upcoming meeting on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s recommendation—originally presented in January 2025—remains unchanged: to continue long-haul waste transportation via truck and rail, without rebuilding the facility in Doral, while exploring the possibility of developing a new landfill site outside of Miami-Dade County. A final vote on this matter is expected at the meeting.
When: Wednesday, July 16, 2025 Time: Meeting starts at 9:00 a.m. Where: Stephen P. Clark Government Center, 111 NW 1st Street, 27th Floor, Miami, FL 33128
