Celebrating the People Who Built Doral and the Future They Are Building Together
Address to highlight affordability, community, fiscal responsibility, economic opportunity, and Doral’s growing role on the world stage.
Doral, FL – Mayor Christi Fraga will deliver the City of Doral’s 2026 State of the City Address on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Trump National Doral, bringing together residents, business leaders, community partners, and public servants for an evening that celebrates the people who have shaped Doral’s identity and the progress that continues to define its future.
This year’s address will go beyond traditional accomplishments and statistics to tell a more personal story of Doral — a community built by families, entrepreneurs, and individuals who believed in opportunity, invested in their future, and helped transform a young city into one of South Florida’s most dynamic communities.
Mayor Fraga will reflect on the progress made over the past four years while recognizing the challenges many families are facing today, emphasizing that the true measure of a city’s success is not simply what it builds, but how well it serves the people who call it home.
“When I look at Doral, I don’t just see the parks we’ve built, the roads we’ve improved, or the businesses we’ve attracted. I see the people who made it all possible,” said Mayor Fraga. “I see families who started over, entrepreneurs who took a chance, and generations who invested their hopes and dreams in this community. They are the heart of Doral, and everything we do as a city should be about protecting what they’ve built and creating opportunities for those who come next.”
A central theme of the address will be affordability and responsible government, as families throughout South Florida navigate rising costs for housing, insurance, groceries, and everyday necessities. Mayor Fraga will highlight Doral’s continued commitment to maintaining the lowest municipal millage rate in Miami-Dade County, providing financial relief through hardship assistance programs and senior benefits, and pursuing innovative ways to reduce the City’s long-term dependence on property taxes.
The address will also focus on the importance of community policing, public trust, and responsive government. Mayor Fraga will recognize the men and women of the Doral Police Department and highlight initiatives that respond directly to residents’ concerns, including the City’s HOA Fraud Prevention Task Force, enhanced traffic enforcement, and continued investments in technology, training, and police infrastructure.
Residents will also hear about improvements in parks, public spaces, roads, mobility, and essential infrastructure, along with the City’s efforts to advocate for long-awaited regional transportation improvements.
Looking toward the future, Mayor Fraga will outline a broader vision for economic opportunity, focused on connecting education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and business investment. The goal is to create an interconnected economic ecosystem where local talent can find meaningful careers, businesses can grow, and future generations can continue to build their lives in Doral.
The evening will also recognize the extraordinary generosity and resilience of the Doral community. Mayor Fraga will reflect on the City’s humanitarian relief efforts in partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), recognizing the residents, businesses, volunteers, and community organizations who came together to help families beyond Doral’s borders during moments of crisis.
In a special announcement, Mayor Fraga will introduce the first-ever City of Doral Mayor’s “More Than a Legacy” Award, a new annual recognition honoring an extraordinary individual whose leadership, service, and contributions embody the spirit of Doral and its motto, “Live, Work, Learn, Play.”
The award will celebrate individuals whose impact extends beyond personal or professional success — those who invest in others, strengthen the community, and help create opportunities for future generations.
“A legacy isn’t simply what we accomplish in our lifetime; it’s the difference we make in the lives of others,” said Mayor Fraga. “This award is about recognizing the extraordinary people whose generosity, vision, and commitment have helped shape our community and whose impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.”
The inaugural recipient will be recognized during this year’s State of the City Address, establishing a new annual tradition celebrating the people who make Doral exceptional.
Finally, the address will look ahead to Doral’s role as host city for the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit in December, a historic opportunity to showcase the community’s economic strength, cultural diversity, innovation, and people before an international audience.
“We have accomplished a great deal together, but our responsibility doesn’t end with celebrating how far we’ve come,” Mayor Fraga added. “It’s about making sure the people who built this city can afford to continue calling it home, that our children have opportunities here, and that Doral remains a community where hard work, family, and opportunity can build a future. Because at the end of the day, the state of our city is the state of our people.”
A reception will immediately follow the State of the City Address.
