On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Doral’s streets were filled with music, laughter, and school spirit as the City of Doral and Miami Dade College (MDC) West Campus came together for the annual I AM MDC Day parade.

The celebration honored 65 years of Miami Dade College, an institution that has touched the lives of more than 2.5 million students and their families. From alumni and faculty to current students and local residents, the event brought the community together to celebrate the power of education and opportunity.

The parade began at the newly opened Doral Central Park—the perfect backdrop for the city’s third year hosting the tradition—and ended at MDC West Campus. Along the route, the crowd was met with the sounds of cheers, music, and waving banners, all celebrating the role MDC continues to play in shaping futures.

Mayor Christi Fraga, a proud MDC alumna herself, joined City Councilmembers and the Doral Police Department in the festivities. “Doral is honored to celebrate this milestone with Miami Dade College,” she shared. “Having once walked those same halls, it is deeply meaningful for me to see our students, alumni, and community join together to commemorate MDC’s 65th anniversary. Holding it in the newly opened Doral Central Park made the occasion even more special—a perfect backdrop to honor education, community spirit, and the vibrant energy that makes Doral truly unique.”

Since opening in Doral in 2006 with just 150 students, MDC West Campus has grown into a thriving hub for more than 14,000 students every year.

Beyond celebrating its legacy, the event also raised funds for student scholarships, helping ensure that future generations will have the chance to pursue higher education and follow their dreams.
