A More Comfortable Commute:Doral Breaks Ground on New Trolley Shelters
Published on October 17, 2025
There’s something special about seeing the Doral Trolley make its way through town — a familiar sight that connects residents to work, school, and the places they love. Now, that daily ride is about to get even better.
The City of Doral has officially broken ground on its Citywide Trolley Shelter Project, a new initiative that will bring ten modern trolley shelters to key locations across the city. These new additions will do more than offer shade and protection from the rain; they’ll make commuting safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone who relies on Doral’s free trolley system.
Mayor Christi Fraga, joined by members of the City Council, City administration, and representatives from Public Works, Arango Billboard & Construction, and Gannett Fleming, celebrated the start of construction with a ceremonial groundbreaking.
“Hundreds of residents rely on our trolley system every day to get to work, school, and around our community,” said Mayor Christi Fraga. “This project is another step forward in our mission to deliver high-quality infrastructure and reliable mobility options for our residents. By investing in safer, more connected spaces, we continue building a Doral that truly moves with its people.”
The new shelters will feature ADA-accessible designs, sidewalk improvements, and landscaping enhancements, blending functionality with the clean, modern look that residents expect from Doral’s public spaces. Once complete, riders can look forward to a more comfortable and connected experience — whether they’re commuting to work or just heading out for a day around town.
The project is another example of Doral’s continued investment in infrastructure that supports a connected, sustainable, and inclusive community — one that keeps people, and progress, moving forward.
