Whether your a first-time swimmer or looking to improve your strokes, the City of Doral is now offering swim lessons for all ages and levels.

Summer 2025 Swim Lessons

Parent & Tot

For Ages 6 Months – 3 Years. The purpose of this course is to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. This course also teaches parents safety information and techniques parents can use to help orient children to the water. One parent per child is required to be in the water during this course.

Preschool 1, 2, and 3

For Ages 3 – 5 Years. The purpose of this course is to begin teaching fundamental water safety and aquatic skills. This course is meant for young children (ages 3-5) to begin helping them get comfortable in the water, with them learning basic water safety skills. Preschool is broken down into three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A child must obtain certain skills before moving on or being entered into a more advanced level.

Learn to Swim 1,2, and 3

For Ages 5-12 Years. The purpose of this course is to teach children and young teens to be safe in, on, and around water and swim well. Aquatic and personal water safety skills are taught in logical progressions through the levels. Participants are placed into 3 different levels based on skills with the purpose of teaching children to be safe in, on, and around water and to swim well. Participants must obtain certain skills before moving on or being entered into a more advanced level.

Learn-To-Swim 4 & 5

For Ages 5 - 12 years: Level 4 & 5 focuses on improving participants’ proficiency in previously learned strokes and introduces more advanced skills. Swimmers continue to refine their front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke while increasing endurance. New skills include the basics of butterfly, sidestroke, open turns, and diving from the side. The emphasis is on developing confidence in deeper water and preparing participants for more complex techniques. Participants in this level should be able to swim one lap by themselves. Participants registered for Level 5 should be able to swim freestyle and backstroke proficiently. Participants must obtain certain skills before moving on or being entered into a more advanced level.

Adult Beginner and Intermediate

Ages 13 years and older

Beginner: Designed for adults with little to no swimming experience. This class focuses on water safety, basic floating, breathing techniques, and introductory strokes such as front crawl and back crawl to build confidence and comfort in the water.

Intermediate: For adults who are comfortable in the water and can swim short distances. This class works on improving stroke technique, building endurance, and introducing additional strokes like breaststroke and elementary backstroke, while refining water safety skills.

Adult Swim Lessons

For Ages 13+. This course is intended for older teens and adults wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in the water. Whether you have never been in the water or need some help learning/improving a stroke, this course can help you reach your goals for the water.

Swim Lesson Policies

Registration opens one week prior to the start date and will Close the Friday Prior to the Start of a New Session at 3pm. Late Registrations May Be Accepted by Phone with a Late Registration Fee of $10.

Price:
Preschool Classes: $150 Res/ $180 Non-Res (per Session)
Learn to Swim Classes: $155 Res/ $185 Non-Res (per Session)

Each Session Includes Six 30-45 minute Lesson depending on the level of the class. Weekday Sessions Are Held Two Nights a Week (either M/W or T/Th).

Students should come prepared for class with the following: towel, bathing suit, and sunscreen. Children requiring the use of diapers during normal activities must wear disposable swim diapers while at the pool. Please do not dispose of diapers in trash cans on the deck, they must be disposed of in the locker room. Please do not change children on the pool deck, changing tables and lockers rooms are available by the front entrance of the aquatic center.

Notices:

  • Minimum of three participants per class
  • Student’s swim lessons levels are based on skill level
  • Children should use the restroom before the start of their lesson
  • No children are allowed in the pool before or after their scheduled class
  • Parents must remain in the pool at all times with Water Baby swimmers
  • Parental interaction from the deck with students should be kept to a minimum as this is distracting to both the student and the instructor
  • If a student needs to be excused for any reason during a session, the parent is responsible for escorting the child to and from the pool

Payment
Payment is due in full at time of registration.

Cancellations
Only two make-up days will be offered per session for weather cancellations or if the City of Doral cancels. There are no make-up classes if a participant is unable to attend a class.

Refunds
Full refunds will be given if requested one week prior to the first class; $25 processing fee through the second class. No refunds thereafter. Refunds are only granted in cases where there is a documented medical condition that precludes completion of the program. If a refund is warranted, it is pro-rated based upon the program start date. Full refunds are only issued if the City of Doral cancels a program, class, or activity.
