Miami-Dade County Considering Potential Service Reductions for Solid Waste Collection Customers

On June 19th, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez informed the community of the potential services reduction for solid waste collection and proposing a $19 increase to the Residential Solid Waste Collection Fee in order to keep the current level of services. If no fee increase is approved, service reductions will have to be implemented some of the proposed changes will be:

Closure of 4 of the 13 Trash and Recycling Centers
Reduction in operating days at the remaining 9 TRCs
Elimination of special collection programs
Increase in bulky waste collection turnaround time

The fee increase agenda item will go before the Board of County Commissioners for first reading on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. If approved on first reading, the item will move forward for Public Hearing on Thursday, September 7, 2017, where your comments and feedback are always welcome.
