Doral Supports National 2017 Public Works Week

National 2017 Public Works Week

The City of Doral is joining the American Public Works Association (APWA) to honor the 2017 National Public Works Week.  This year, from May 21st  to 27th , we celebrate the contributions of Public Works professionals to the communities they serve.

“We value our communities and the role that public works professionals play in keeping them safe and functioning smoothly”, states the APWA, the official sponsor of the National Public Works Week (NPWW).  The APWA’s objective is to increase public awareness of the contributions, as well as to enlighten the public about the duties, practices, and goals of public works professionals.

Public works professionals include those who manage water, sewer, public transportation, and waste removal services, as well as those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds.  They are, in short, the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety, and comfort.

Besides maintaining and improving the City’s roadways, the Public Works Department also strives to protect and educate the individuals that are using these roads. We recognize that by providing safe and properly maintained roads, we are sustaining an interdependent relationship between the City and its users positively impacting our community. We also provide programs and policies to facilitate our leaders and residents implement more sustainable, economically sound and socially responsible long term solutions.

To commemorate National Public Works Week, Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez issued a proclamation to bring awareness to the visitors and residents as part of the program and recognize the importance and the admirable work that our Public Works Department does for our community.
