Doral Breaks Ground on Construction of Doral Central Park

Doral, FL- On March 1st, Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez, City Council, staff along with Kaufman Lynn Construction and Bermello Ajamil & Partners broke ground on the Doral Central Park build-out project. The park will be closed to the public beginning on March 1st until further notice with Phases 2 and 3 scheduled to be completed in 2022 and Phase 4 completed in 2023.

The 82-acre existing passive park will be transformed into a multipurpose and multigenerational park benefitting the entire region with amenities that include:

  • Approx. 70,000 sq. ft Indoor Recreation Center- including a fitness center, indoor basketball gym, child watch area, teen room, Silver Club room, multipurpose rooms
  • Aquatics Facility: Competition pool, training pool, recreation side, multipurpose rooms
  • Amphitheatre
  • Baseball/Softball Fields
  • Multi-use sports fields
  • Skate Spot & Pump Track
  • Outdoor fitness areas
  • Nature Areas & Kayak launch
  • Multiple Playgrounds
  • Tennis, Basketball & Sand Volleyball Courts
  • Lake-front promenade & cultural plaza
  • And more!

The design of the park and the amenities included addresses the community’s needs as identified in the Parks System Master Plan through community surveys and several community workshops that gave residents the opportunity to provide feedback. Following that process, the Mayor and City Council unanimously agreed that the residents should decide the future of our parks. Residents ultimately decided that they wanted projects like this to continue improving their quality of life. Doral voters approved the Doral Parks Bond, November 2018, which includes Doral Central Park as well as several other high priority park improvements in the City.
