DOH-Miami-Dade Offers Appointments for COVID-19 Vaccines,
Vaccine Booster and Pediatric Vaccine

Miami, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH-Miami-Dade) is offering appointments for the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available to individuals 5 years of age and older while the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine is available to individuals 18 years of age and older.

In addition, there are booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its booster dose recommendations, expanding eligibility to all adults ages 18 and older.
The Pfizer-BioNTech booster vaccine has been approved for individuals 12 years of age and older.

Individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, are eligible for a booster shot at least 5 months after their initial 2-dose series and individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, are eligible for a booster shot at least 2 months after their 1-dose vaccine.

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose, when available. Some individuals may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, while others may prefer to get a different booster. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots of COVID-19 vaccine.
