Playful City USA: recognition for making it easy for all kids to get balanced and active play in their neighborhoods and for pledging to integrate play as a solution to the challenges facing their communities. In its 10th year, Playful City USA is a national recognition program that honors cities and towns for taking bold steps to create more play opportunities for all kids.

National Gold Medal Award Finalist: The Gold Medal Award honors communities throughout the United States that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management and innovative approaches to delivering superb park and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices.

Florida Recreation & Park Association Agency Excellence Award Winner: The Florida Recreation and Park Association’s Agency Excellence Award recognizes and honors the state’s most outstanding community Park, Recreation and/or Leisure Service agencies for excellence in Parks and Recreation management. The Agency Excellence Award program focuses on agencies excelling at positioning themselves as key participants and providers in the categories of Economic Impact, Environmental Sustainability, Health, and Community Building. Agencies may select an individual category or apply in the Super Category if they excel in all four categories.

Healthy Weight Community Champion: The Florida Department of Health is recognizing 80 communities as 2016 Healthy Weight Community Champions for their model practices which affect more than 41 percent of Floridians. This year’s Champions are working to reshape environments in their communities through a variety of evidence-based policies that increase physical activity and improve nutrition.

Let’s Move Cities, towns & counties: Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative that was launched by the First Lady in 2010 and is dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.

Healthy Communities for a Healthy Future: The National League of Cities (NLC) is working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and with the support of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Association of Counties and other nonprofit organizations to assist local elected officials who join Let's Move!
