The City of Doral has been home to Christi Fraga and her Cuban family for over 13 years. Naturally, when the time came for her and her husband, Gabriel Fraga, to begin looking for where they would start their family, Doral was the only option. Graduating with honors from St. Brendan High School, Christi Fraga ensured that she kept a well-balanced social and academic life through her involvement in the Student Government Association, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Future Business Leaders of America. On her free time, she enjoyed competitive sports, where she competed on a national level with the Miami Elite All Stars and went on to win five (5) national championships. After graduating from St. Brendan, Christi Fraga went on to earn her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Miami-Dade College and her Bachelor’s degree in Finance Management and Accounting from Florida International University. These accomplishments together, created a foundation for her successes. Through her social and scholastic efforts, she gained the skills required to start her first business in the Doral area, at a young age.
Christi and Gabriel are currently proud owners of three (3) successful Doral-based businesses; City Select, South Florida Small Business Solutions, and WM Plumbing, Inc. Professionally, she has always envisioned herself as a well-rounded, determined and passionate business and community leader. In November 2012, she was elected as the youngest Council member in City of Doral’s history. Through her entrepreneurship and business experience, she has earned a reputation of improving the City’s quality of life through her legislative proposals, as well as presenting efficient and fresh ideas to Doral’s Government.
As councilwoman, she has continuously gone above and beyond what is expected of her duties and exemplifies this through her various positions. Councilwoman Fraga spearheaded the creation of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), a group of young civic leaders, ages 16 to 20, brought together to advise the City on how to get other young adults involved in government services. Furthermore, she was named Chair in 2013 and 2014, of the Women’s Alliance Group (WAG), a committee of the Doral Business Council, which focuses on supporting, guiding and enhancing women’s opportunities in the workplace while also promoting and bringing women together in the business community. WAG is not the only women’s empowerment community organization she participates in, she currently also sits on the 2014 Open The Door committee for The Women’s Breast Health Initiative (WBHI), which is an outreach campaign that aims at providing breast health awareness, education, mammograms and referrals to at-risk women through targeted door-to-door outreach. Councilwoman Fraga’s dedication and determination has not gone unnoticed and in November 2013, was appointed as Councilwoman of the City of Doral, by her colleagues on the City Council, making her Miami-Dade County's youngest Councilwoman.
Because of Councilwoman Fraga’s passion and commitment as a leader, her tasks have not been limited to the City of Doral. Recently, she was appointed to the 2014-2015 Miami-Dade County League of Cities (MDCLC) Board of Directors, which serves with the purpose of working with local municipalities, in an effort to assist in proficient government administration and to protect the welfare of residents and business in Miami-Dade County.
Councilwoman Fraga is not only a determined, ambitious and optimistic leader in the community but a patient, caring and attentive individual, who is passionate about making a difference and focuses her efforts on the causes that are most important for the betterment of the community. The City of Doral and Miami-Dade County have and will always be a place she calls home and one in which, will forever remain close to her heart. Because of this, Councilwoman Fraga remains vehement about continuing her efforts in making her community a better place to live, work, play and visit.
