As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s road and traffic improvements for our area, construction of the western portion of the NW 25th Street Viaduct (Elevated Bridge) project will start in June, 2012.
The purpose of the project is to conclude the viaduct (elevated bridge) that will direct truck traffic directly into Miami International Airport hence alleviating local traffic and improving the quality of life of Doral residents and visitors.
The work by FDOT will extend from SR 826 in the east to NW 89 Court in the west with adjoining improvements to NW 79 Ave, NW 82 Ave, NW 84 Ave and NW 87 Ave.
The massive project will be broken into five phases that will encompass the next four years. The first phase includes the following:
Although Doral drivers will experience delays that will continue until 2016, every effort will be made to minimize impacts to traffic. Drivers using these streets are highly encouraged to use alternate routes such as NW 12 Street and NW 33 Street. It is also recommended to allow extra time when commuting to accommodate for traffic and other detours.
