An additional left turn lane will be added on westbound NW 25 Street at NW 82 Avenue on Tuesday morning, November 18.  Once opened there will be two left turn lanes for drivers on westbound NW 25 Street making a left onto southbound NW 82 Avenue.
Lane Closures on NW 25 Street at NW 79 Avenue
In order to allow the project contractor to implement needed changes to improve traffic signal operations, all westbound travel lanes on NW 25 Street will be closed at NW 79 Avenue between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Drivers can:
  • Turn north on NW 79 Avenue
  • Turn west on NW 29 Street

New Traffic Pattern on NW 25 Street

A new traffic pattern on NW 25 Street between SR 826 and NW 84 Avenue has been implemented as described below:

  • Westbound NW 25 Street traffic between SR 826 and NW 84 Avenue will be shifted to the newly constructed travel lanes on the north side of the roadway.
  • Eastbound NW 25 Street traffic will be shifted between NW 84 Avenue and SR 826 towards the north where the existing westbound travel lanes are currently located.

A work zone will be located in between the westbound and eastbound travel lanes and also on the southern section of the roadway to allow the contractor to perform drainage and roadway work. Left turns will be limited to intersections during this phase of construction.  Travel lanes between NW 84 Avenue and NW 89 Court will remain in their current location.

Major Transportation Project by FDOT to Start in Doral

As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s road and traffic improvements for our area, construction of the western portion of the NW 25th Street Viaduct (Elevated Bridge) project will start in June, 2012.

The purpose of the project is to conclude the viaduct (elevated bridge) that will direct truck traffic directly into Miami International Airport hence alleviating local traffic and improving the quality of life of Doral residents and visitors.

The work by FDOT will extend from SR 826 in the east to NW 89 Court in the west with adjoining improvements to NW 79 Ave, NW 82 Ave, NW 84 Ave and NW 87 Ave.

The massive project will be broken into five phases that will encompass the next four years. The first phase includes the following:

  • Phase 1A – Two months of night work to remove medians and landscaping on adjacent NW 79, 82, 84 and 87 Avenues to facilitate Maintenance of Traffic.
  • Phase 1B – 18 months of day and night work to enclose canal and build new lanes on the north side of NW 25 St. Traffic to remain on South side two lanes each direction but side streets may be narrowed to one lane each direction and majority of turn lanes will be removed.

Although Doral drivers will experience delays that will continue until 2016, every effort will be made to minimize impacts to traffic. Drivers using these streets are highly encouraged to use alternate routes such as NW 12 Street and NW 33 Street. It is also recommended to allow extra time when commuting to accommodate for traffic and other detours.
