Nighttime Lane Closures on NW 25 Street

Two eastbound travel lanes on NW 25 Street will be closed from NW 79 Avenue to State Road (SR) 826  Tuesday, October 14 through Thursday, October 23 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The closures will allow the contractor work on roadway drainage. Please note that if the work is not completed due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions, the closure will occur on the following night.

Drivers are encouraged to call 511 before they drive or log on to www.fl511.com to get real-time traffic and lane closure information. FDOT reminds drivers that wearing a safety belt is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Please drive cautiously in work zones.

Opening of new Northbound Milam Dairy Road from NW 7 to NW 8 Street
The new northbound Milam Dairy Road travel lanes between NW 7 Street and NW 8 Street are scheduled to open on Saturday morning, October 18. Drivers on northbound NW 72 Avenue can now continue north on the new Milam Dairy Road lanes at NW 7 Street and continue towards NW 12 Street and beyond.  Drivers will now use the new northbound Milam Dairy Road lanes to access the ramps to eastbound and westbound State Road (SR) 836 as well as the ramps to northbound and southbound SR 826. See attached diagram.

Drivers on the new northbound Milam Dairy Road going west on NW 7 Street can continue to NW 11 Street where a U-turn is permitted to access westbound NW 7 Street.

Once the new Milam Dairy Road lanes are open, all northbound travel lanes on NW 72 Avenue between NW 7 Street and NW 11 Street will be permanently closed and drivers must use the new Milam Dairy Road lanes to continue north.

In order to open the new travel lanes the following closures will be implemented on Friday, October 17 as scheduled below:
Two lanes on northbound NW 72 Avenue will be closed at NW 7 Street between the hours of 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

All northbound travel lanes on NW 72 Avenue will be closed at NW 7 Street between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.  Drivers can:

  • Go east on NW 7 Street, north on NW 57 Avenue
  • Access SR 836 westbound or eastbound ramp
  • OR
  • Continue north to NW 57 Avenue
  • Go west on NW 12 Street/Perimeter Road to connect with NW 72 Avenue

Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions.

Eastbound NW 12 Street Traffic Shift

All eastbound travel lanes on NW 12 Street between NW 78 Avenue and Milam Dairy Road will be shifted to the south side of the roadway on Sunday morning, October 19.  The westbound travel lanes will remain at their current location.

In order to complete the traffic shift the following closures will be implemented as scheduled below:

Thursday, October 16- One eastbound lane on NW 12 Street will be closed between NW 78 Avenue and Milam Dairy Road between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, October 18- One eastbound lane on NW 12 Street will be closed between NW 78 Avenue and Milam Dairy Road between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Saturday, October 18- All eastbound lanes on NW 12 Street will be closed between NW 78 Avenue and Milam Dairy Road starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 until 10 a.m. Sunday, October 19. Drivers can:

  • Go north on NW 82 Avenue
  • East on NW 25 Street
  • South on 72 Avenue/Milam Dairy Road to connect with NW 12 Street

The traffic shift will allow the contractor to continue the construction of new bridges over NW 12 Street.  Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions.

Lane Closure Report: Through Thursday, October 16 -The contractor for the State Road (SR) 826/SR 836 Interchange Reconstruction Project will perform the following closures:

Closures on S.R. 826

  • Through Thursday, October 16- There will be on and off single and double lane closures on southbound and northbound SR 826 from south of NW 25 Street to SW 8 Street to allow the contractor to perform roadway maintenance and construction between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. (LC 1000)

Thursday, October 9 through Saturday, October 18- Northbound SR 826 will be closed north of SW 8 Street on the following days

  • Monday, October 13 through Thursday, October 16 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 between the hours of 11:45 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
Drivers can:
  • Exit at the eastbound SR 836 ramp lanes
  • Access the northbound SR 826 ramp lane on the left to continue north on SR 826
Closures on S.R. 836
  • Through Thursday, October 16 - There will be single and double lane closures on eastbound and westbound SR 836 from NW 87 Avenue to NW 57 Avenue to allow the contractor to perform roadway maintenance and construction between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. (LC 1100)
  • Thursday, October 9 through Saturday, October 18- Eastbound SR 836 will be closed at SR 826 on the following days:
  • Monday, October 13 through Thursday, October 16 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 between the hours of 11:45 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Eastbound drivers on SR 836 will be guided:

  • To the southbound SR 826 exit ramp
  • Exit at West Flagler Street, go east
  • Enter northbound SR 826 ramp to access the eastbound SR 836 ramp

Southbound drivers on SR 826 heading eastbound on SR 836 can:

  • Exit at the eastbound SR 836 ramp
  • Exit at West Flagler Street, go east
  • Enter northbound SR 826 ramp to access the eastbound SR 836 ramp
  • The westbound SR 836 ramp to southbound SR 826 will be closed on the following days:
  • Monday, October 13 through Thursday, October 16 between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 between the hours of 11:45 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Detour:

  • Exit at the northbound SR 826 ramp
  • Exit at NW 25 Street, go west
  • Access the southbound SR 826 ramp


Major Transportation Project by FDOT to Start in Doral

As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s road and traffic improvements for our area, construction of the western portion of the NW 25th Street Viaduct (Elevated Bridge) project will start in June, 2012.

The purpose of the project is to conclude the viaduct (elevated bridge) that will direct truck traffic directly into Miami International Airport hence alleviating local traffic and improving the quality of life of Doral residents and visitors.

The work by FDOT will extend from SR 826 in the east to NW 89 Court in the west with adjoining improvements to NW 79 Ave, NW 82 Ave, NW 84 Ave and NW 87 Ave.

The massive project will be broken into five phases that will encompass the next four years. The first phase includes the following:

  • Phase 1A – Two months of night work to remove medians and landscaping on adjacent NW 79, 82, 84 and 87 Avenues to facilitate Maintenance of Traffic.
  • Phase 1B – 18 months of day and night work to enclose canal and build new lanes on the north side of NW 25 St. Traffic to remain on South side two lanes each direction but side streets may be narrowed to one lane each direction and majority of turn lanes will be removed.

Although Doral drivers will experience delays that will continue until 2016, every effort will be made to minimize impacts to traffic. Drivers using these streets are highly encouraged to use alternate routes such as NW 12 Street and NW 33 Street. It is also recommended to allow extra time when commuting to accommodate for traffic and other detours.
