Nightly Lane Closures on Westbound NW 25 Street and State Road (SR) 826 Ramps to NW 25 Street

Doral – The following closures will be scheduled on NW 25 Street to allow the contractor to work on an overhead bridge:

All westbound NW 25 Street travel lanes will be closed at NW 74 Avenue on Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, July 3 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  Drivers can:

  • Turn north on NW 72 Avenue, west on NW 36 Street
  • Turn south on NW 79 Avenue to access NW 25 Street

The two left turn lanes on the northbound SR 826 exit ramp to go west on NW 25 Street will be closed on Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, July 3 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  Drivers can:

  • Go east on NW 25 Street, turn north on NW 72 Avenue, west on NW 36 Street
  • Turn south on NW 79 Avenue to access NW 25 Street

The southbound SR 826 ramp turn lane to westbound NW 25 Street will be closed on Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, July 3 (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  Drivers can:

  • Exit at NW 36 Street, west on NW 36 Street
  • South on NW 79 Avenue to connect with NW 25 Street

Please note that if the work is not completed due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions, the closure will occur on the following night. LANE CLOSURES ON SR 826/ PALMETTO EXPRESSWAY:

The contractor for the Palmetto Express project will be installing temporary barrier walls and attenuators. In order to conduct this work the following lane closures will be in effect. This schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions. For the latest Palmetto Express project traffic updates, please visit www.palmettoexpresslanes.com and click on the “lane closures” tab.

Wednesday, June 24 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. of the following morning: 

On SR 826/Palmetto Expressway northbound, the outside shoulder on the ramp to eastbound SR 924/Gratigny Parkway will be closed. 

From Wednesday, June 24 to Friday, June 26 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. of the following morning: 

On SR 826/Palmetto Expressway southbound, the outside lane (far right lane) will be closed from the southbound I-75 exit ramp to NW 122 Street. 

From Sunday, June 28 to Thursday, July 2 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. of the following morning: 

On SR 826/Palmetto Expressway southbound, the outside lane (far right lane) will be closed from NW 122 Street to Okeechobee Road.

Traffic Shift on Southbound State Road (SR) 826

On Saturday morning, June 27 (Sunday morning, June 28 is an alternate date) all travel lanes on southbound SR 826 will be shifted to portions of the newly constructed roadway after West Flagler Street. In order to prepare for the shift the following closures will be implemented:

Friday, June 26 (Saturday, June 27 is an alternate date) - All southbound SR 826 travel lanes will be closed at the eastbound SR 836 ramp between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Drivers continuing south on SR 826 can:

  • Exit at the eastbound SR 836 exit, merge onto westbound SR 836
  • Exit at NW 87 Avenue south ramp, south on NW 87 Avenue
  • East on SW 8 Street to connect with the SR 826 south ramp

Southbound drivers on SR 826 wanting to exit at West Flagler Street can:

  • Exit at the eastbound SR 836 exit, merge to westbound SR 836
  • Exit at NW 87 Avenue south ramp, south on NW 87 Avenue
  • Connect with West Flagler Street

Friday, June 26 (Saturday, June 27 is an alternate date) - The eastbound SR 836 ramps to southbound SR 826 will be close between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Drivers can:

  • Continue east on SR 836, exit at NW 72 Avenue/Milam Dairy Road
  • South on NW 72 Avenue/Milam Dairy Road
  • Cross West Flagler Street, right on Tamiami Canal Road to SW 8 Street
  • West on SW 8 Street to access southbound SR 826

Friday, June 26 (Saturday, June 27 is an alternate date) - The westbound SR 836 flyover bridge to southbound SR 826 will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Westbound drivers on SR 836 going to southbound SR 826 can:

  • Go north on SR 826, exit at NW 25 Street, go west to NW 87 Avenue
  • South on NW 87 Avenue to SW 8 Street
  • East on SW 8 Street to connect with the SR 826 south ramp

Friday, June 26 (Saturday, June 27 is an alternate date) - The West Flagler Street ramp to southbound SR 826 will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Westbound drivers on West Flagler Street going to southbound SR 826 can:

      • West to NW 87 Avenue, south to SW 8 Street
      • East on SW 8 Street to access southbound SR 826

Eastbound drivers on West Flagler Street going to southbound SR 826 can:

      • Continue east to NW 72 Avenue, turn south
      • Right on Tamiami Canal Road to SW 8 Street
      • West on SW 8 Street to access southbound SR 826

Major Transportation Project by FDOT to Start in Doral

As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s road and traffic improvements for our area, construction of the western portion of the NW 25th Street Viaduct (Elevated Bridge) project will start in June, 2012.

The purpose of the project is to conclude the viaduct (elevated bridge) that will direct truck traffic directly into Miami International Airport hence alleviating local traffic and improving the quality of life of Doral residents and visitors.

The work by FDOT will extend from SR 826 in the east to NW 89 Court in the west with adjoining improvements to NW 79 Ave, NW 82 Ave, NW 84 Ave and NW 87 Ave.

The massive project will be broken into five phases that will encompass the next four years. The first phase includes the following:

  • Phase 1A – Two months of night work to remove medians and landscaping on adjacent NW 79, 82, 84 and 87 Avenues to facilitate Maintenance of Traffic.
  • Phase 1B – 18 months of day and night work to enclose canal and build new lanes on the north side of NW 25 St. Traffic to remain on South side two lanes each direction but side streets may be narrowed to one lane each direction and majority of turn lanes will be removed.

Although Doral drivers will experience delays that will continue until 2016, every effort will be made to minimize impacts to traffic. Drivers using these streets are highly encouraged to use alternate routes such as NW 12 Street and NW 33 Street. It is also recommended to allow extra time when commuting to accommodate for traffic and other detours.
