This is a courtesy notification from WM Medley Landfill to inform the City of Doral and Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (DERM) of possible unforeseen or non-routine conditions at the Landfill. Medley Landfill will beginthe expansion of the planed landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) construction activities this week.
Now that we are out of the May through October period in which we refrained from drilling and excavating activities, we will begin our phased installation of permanent landfill gas collectors. During this phase of the GSSC expansion, we plan on drilling and constructing replacement of 31vertical gas collector wells over the next three weeks up until Wednesday, November 26th. Any work not completed prior to November 26 will resume after the Thanksgiving weekend in the first week of December.
Medley Landfill operations and contractors will employ odor control techniques such as using vacuum boxes to prevent fugitive gas during drilling and minimizing trench excavation in waste during installation of the vacuum lines. We will continue to use our stationary and mobile odor suppression equipment to control odor during the construction activities. We will make every effort to minimize the impact to the community.
Please note that this notification is for information purposes only. It is not an admission of liability and Medley Landfill is not reporting non-compliance with any applicable rules or conditions of the facility’s operating permits.
