Vanderbilt Park Community Survey Results

In May 2014 the City of Doral reached out to the Vanderbilt Park residents after receiving numerous concerns regarding cut through traffic and excessive vehicular speeds within the Vanderbilt Park community.  In the past the City of Doral has reached out to the Vanderbilt Park residents via a series of surveys.  However the City was unsuccessful in obtaining the community’s approval to further study the concerns as the survey results were evenly divided between residents in favor of improvements and residents opposed to improvements.

However, this time the survey results were substantially different.  The City of Doral mailed out 206 surveys to the residents that live within the Vanderbilt Park community and the City received 81 completed surveys.  The overwhelming consensus is that there is a concern regarding cut through traffic and excessive vehicular speeding within the community.  The survey also reflects that the majority of the residents are in favor of having the City conduct a traffic study to identify possible solutions and installing traffic calming devices if warranted.  The City also asked for resident’s input regarding street lighting.  The majority of the residents strongly agree with the installation of street lighting, however, strongly disagree with creating a Special Taxing District in order to offset the cost of installation and maintenance of street lights similar to other residential areas in the City of Doral.  The results of the surveys are provided below.

As a result, the City of Doral Public Works Department will be conducting a Traffic Calming Study to evaluate and recommend improvements that will enhance the livability within the Vanderbilt Park community.  The City will solicit the residents’ input every step of the way through a series of public workshops.   The City will be notifying the residents in the near future as we begin the study process.
