Stormwater Improvements - Miscellaneous Sites
  • On-going contract to address the water ponding and flooding on miscellaneous sites identified throughout the City during this year.
  • Total Cost: $250,000.00
  • Contractor: Metro Express, Inc.

Street Sweeping

  • This project consists of sweeping and clean-up of all public maintained roadways which are swept every two weeks for a total of 2,520 miles per year.
  • The total cost of the project is $120,000 per year.
  • Contractor: SFM Services, Inc.

Catch Basin Maintenance

  • This project consists of clean-up of all stormwater drainage infrastructure on City owned public right-of-way.
  • The project total projected cost is $225,000 per year.
  • Contractor: Enviro-Waste Services Group, Inc.

Floating Debris Removal

  • This project consists of floating debris removal from City owned canals.
  • The project total projected cost is $50,000 per year.
  • Contractor: SFM Services, Inc.

Miami-Dade County Canal Maintenance Inter-local Agreement

  • This 5 year Inter-local Agreement with Miami-Dade County consists of maintenance services for City owned canals. Maintenance includes: mechanical harvesting, spray floating weeds, spray underwater weeds, spray canal banks, flat mowing, slope mowing, and maintenance of culverts above and below water.
  • The project total projected cost is approximately $320,000 per year.
  • Contractor: Miami-Dade County

Doral Trolley System

  • The City is currently running five trolleys that provide free transportation service to our residents connecting residential and commercial areas. The Public Works Department has launched its third route to expand service with connection to Metrorail Station. Total cost of services is $543,966.53 per year.

City Wide Milling and Resurfacing, Sidewalk Removal and Replacement Project (City Project)
  • This project consist of removal and replacement of sidewalks, curb/gutter and the milling and resurfacing of bituminous paving at various locations throughout the City.
  • Project Start Date: March 2013.

Canal Bank Stabilization Program

  • This is a 10 year program which consist of canal banks restoration and installation of pedestrian/bike shared path segment along the canal maintenance easements.
  • Total of 2.58 miles (Year 1: 1.26 miles, Year 2: 1.32 miles).
  • The project total projected cost is $4,000,000.
  • Contractor: Gonzalez and Sons Equipment, Inc.

SR826 (Palmetto) and SR836 (Dolphin) Interchange Improvement Project over NW 12th Street (FDOT & Miami-Dade Expressway Authority Project) ONGOING
In 2009, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six in partnership with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) began a reconstruction project of the S.R. 826 (Palmetto Expressway) and S.R. 836 (Dolphin Expressway) Interchange. Work includes widening both S.R. 826 and S.R. 836 and the construction of a four-level interchange that will include direct ramps to provide movements in all directions between the highways. The project limits are West Boundary (NW 87th Avenue), East Boundary (NW 57th Avenue), South Boundary (SW 8th Street), & North Boundary (NW 25th Street).

  • Project Started Date: December 2009.
  • Project Estimated Completion Date: December 2014.

Project: NW 25 Street Viaduct Project (West Segment) Phase II
Limits: From NW 89 Court to SR 826 (Palmetto Expressway)
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to improve the flow of traffic on NW 25 Street and facilitate the movement of cargo in and out of the cargo facilities at Miami International Airport (MIA). This segment of the project will connect the viaduct with the east segment viaduct and provide a direct connection to the cargo facilities from NW 82 Avenue.

Reconstruct NW 25 Street at Grade (New Drainage, Lighting, Signing & Marking, Signals (NW 87 Ave, NW 84 Ave, NW 82 Ave and NW 79 Ave), Landscape and ADA compliance at all Intersection)
NW 25 Street roadway widened from its existing configuration of five lanes undivided to six lanes divided with wide medians.

  • Construct Final Segment of Viaduct Structure over NW 25 Street for truck traffic from NW 82 Ave. to Palmetto (SR 826)
  • Project start date: May 2012
  • Project estimated completion: November 2015
  • Contractor is Astaldi Construction Corporation

Project Benefits:

  • Separation of MIA Cargo truck traffic and commuter traffic
  • Reduced travel time
  • Direct connection to MIA Cargo Area from NW 82 Avenue
  • Increased turning radius on major intersections

  NW 112th Avenue road construction project from NW 79 Lane to NW 82nd Street

  • This project consists of roadway construction along NW 112th Avenue, from NW 79th Lane to NW 82nd Street, and includes clearing and grubbing, de-mucking, embankment, drainage, curb and gutter, guardrail, sidewalk, roadway base and stabilized subgrade, paving, guardrail, street lighting, roadway signing and pavement markings
  • Project Start Date: October 3, 2011.
  • Project Estimate Completion: Project has 90 days duration after the Notice to Proceed has been provided to the Contractor.
  • Contractor: Acosta Tractors, Inc., Cost: $368,842.52
