Traffic Enforcement Details
The Doral Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit is staffed with five motorcycle officers, two Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers, one Sergeant and one Lieutenant. The City of Doral's paramount concern is traffic as 90% of complaints received in the police department is in regards to people speeding and other traffic violations.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit is not just responsible for enforcing traffic laws; the unit's responsibilities include investigating vehicle related accidents, perform DUI (driving under the influence) checkpoints aimed at deterring impaired drivers, and vehicle safety checkpoints. The Traffic Enforcement Unit also utilizes various forms of speed measuring devices to identify and apprehend all other traffic violations. Some of these devices include laser, radar and velociraptor speed measuring devices.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated and participated in a number of programs intended to prevent accidents and make the streets safer to include the "Click it or Ticket Program", Traffic Safety Days, Move Over Law, to name a few.
The Traffic Unit also has the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Unit. CVE enforces violations of overweight commercial vehicles that travel the roads in the City of Doral, which cause damage to the city streets within the municipal limits of the City.
