City of Doral 51st In Top 100 Places To Live and Launch A Business! PDF Print E-mail

For Immediate Release
April 2, 2008

Doral, Florida – CNNMoney.com ranks City of Doral 51st in the top 100 places to live and launch a business in the United States. CNNMoney.com canvassed the country to find cities with “the best mix of business advantage and lifestyle appeal.” City of Doral, which presents a unique experience to its residents and business owners by offering world renowned golf courses, manicured developments, arts, culture, and top educational venues, was one of two cities in the state of Florida that was identified by CNNMoney.Com. Ft. Lauderdale was the other city in Florida that made the list trailing behind City of Doral by a wide margin.

CNNMoney.com cites Doral as a small business hot spot especially for entrepreneurs active in the Latin American market. Doral is not only a small business hot spot, but is drawing attention and attracting local and international large businesses which are relocating their offices to Doral because of the attractive business opportunities the city offers as well as its wonderful lifestyle. For example, Doral is home to the broadband provider Brightstar, which is the largest Hispanic-owned company in the United States.

The City of Doral which was incorporated five years ago, is now equipped with an Economic Development Department which will further actively promote business development and opportunities in the City of Doral. With the newly appointed Economic Development Coordinator, Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera, Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and the City Council intend to continue the vision of thrusting Doral as a world class hub for international business.

“I am very proud of the fact that as a “new” city we have been ranked this high.  Since incorporation, our motto has been to be the premier place to live, work, learn and play.  This ranking shows that we have been successful in working towards our vision,” expressed Mayor Bermudez.

Through his leadership, Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez has propelled City of Doral to grow in the areas that are important to the residents of Doral as well as the business owners. Mayor Bermudez believes that economic development is community driven through the arts, the parks, the schools (Doral is the only city in Dade-County which has all A schools), all of which are a showcase of what citizens want in a city.

With over 1 million additional square feet of class A-1 office space and 5,000 additional dwellings planned in the next 3-8 years, the new Economic Development Coordinator, Ms. Aguilera, will focus on specific projects such as collaborating with the Beacon Council and other entities to create a Doral marketing piece, highlighting the benefits of establishing a business in Doral, to attract multi-national companies and high-end retail, restaurants and hotels.

Ms. Aguilera has 15 years of experience in economic development and international business. She will be setting her sights on developing a Doral Florida incentive package for companies/businesses considering moving their headquarters to Doral by creating a business census survey to assess needs and wants. She will work on establishing a monthly training workshop for small, medium, and multinational businesses as well as increasing the activity in the high density business areas through the use of the City of Doral trolley.

It’s no wonder the City of Doral made the list of the top 100 places to launch a business in the United States and will continue to be a part of that list as the city (which has grown from 3,000 to 35,000 residents in only five years) continues to offer the unique lifestyle and business incentives that can only be found in Doral.
